The hotel construction industry on Spain’s sunny coast is booming in 2024, with a growth of over 60 per cent in the first quarter alone. According to DoubleTrade data, there are 412 hotel projects underway, totaling nearly €2 billion in investments. Malaga province, in particular, is seeing the most significant investments in Spain, with projects in Marbella and Casares totaling €1.2 billion.
The surge in hotel construction is a response to the increasing tourist demand in Spain, as highlighted by DoubleTrade’s analysis. Three major hotel projects are leading the way, including the construction of the high-end ’Villa Padierna Beach Resort’ by the Villa Padierna Group, valued at €650 million. Additionally, there is a hotel refurbishment in Casares worth over €400 million and the construction of a new hotel in Marbella valued at €200 million.
This wave of investment is transforming the Malaga coast into a hub for luxury hospitality, attracting travelers from around the world. With such significant developments underway, 2024 is shaping up to be a record year for the hotel industry in the region.
