Fuengirola (Málaga) rantautuu Espanjan pääkaupunkiin tarjotakseen parasta rantaansa
Fuengirola Promotes its Beach in Madrid
Fuengirola, a city in Malaga, has made its presence known in the capital of Spain by offering the best of its beach in an unprecedented promotional event. The tourist offer of the town was showcased in Chamberí Square, where thousands of Madrilenians and visitors gathered to participate.
Attendees had the opportunity to taste a plate of grilled sardines prepared by the local Beach Entrepreneurs Association and enjoy musical performances by local groups Efecto Mariposa and Los Salvajes del Rebalaje.
The event began with speeches by Fuengirola’s Mayor, Ana Mula, and Madrid City Councilor and President of the Chamberí District Board, Jaime González, who praised the initiative of presenting the city to Madrilenians as their preferred destination for vacations.
”Madrid and Fuengirola are now more connected through this event, which has brought joy and a piece of its spectacular beaches and gastronomy to the heart of the capital,” stated González. Mayor Ana Mula expressed gratitude for the opportunity to showcase Fuengirola in Madrid and highlighted its positive impact on the rest of the country.
”Madrid, besides being a great city, is the heart of Spain, and everything that happens here resonates throughout our nation. That’s why we are here: to tell all Madrilenians and Spaniards that we are the best destination for vacations and even for a second residence. Fuengirola is cheerful, cosmopolitan, festive, welcoming… it’s well-being and quality of life. Today, we have brought a small sample of what we offer in our land,” said Mayor Mula.
Following the speeches, a promotional video of the city was shown, and local groups Los Salvajes del Rebalaje and Efecto Mariposa performed. Deputy Mayor Rodrigo Romero also provided a preview of the shows that will take place during the 2024 edition of the Marenostrum Fuengirola concert series, starting on May 18th.
During the event, the 20 grillers from Fuengirola’s beach bars prepared around 3,000 servings of this typical dish in an environment featuring elements of the city’s coastal furniture, including a lifeguard hut. Additionally, the Francisco Luzón Foundation ’United against ALS’ sold drinks to attendees to raise funds for their social work.
WORK MEETINGS
Prior to the event, Mayor Ana Mula, accompanied by Deputy Mayor Rodrigo Romero, as well as the Councilors of Beaches and Tourism, José Sánchez and José Luis Ponce, respectively, held various work meetings with stakeholders interested in the municipality.
They met with Fuengirola’s shooter, José Miguel López, the Spanish Fencing Champion, and also with Norberto del Castillo, President of the Spanish Beach Entrepreneurs Federation, and Alberto Santos, the delegate of this group in Fuengirola. Meetings were also held with national music promoter Marcos Calvo and the aforementioned municipal representative from the city of Madrid.
