Finnair Increases Flights to Malaga, Making It Top Destination in Spain

Finnair has announced an increase in flights to Malaga, making it the airline’s top destination in Spain with eleven weekly flights. This summer, Finnair is celebrating 60 years of connecting Finland with the Costa del Sol by increasing its capacity by 17 percent.

Javier Roig, Finnair’s Director for Europe, highlighted that the connections with Malaga surpass those with Madrid and Barcelona, with daily flights in both winter and summer seasons. Malaga airport is set to be the hub of Finnair’s operations in Spain this year.

The increase in seats to Malaga is attributed to the use of larger aircraft, specifically the Airbus A321 with 200 seats, and an increase in weekly frequencies. The Finnish population in Fuengirola, estimated at around 8,000 residents, also plays a significant role in Finnair’s commitment to Malaga.

Aside from the summer season from April to October, Finnair will operate ten weekly flights between Malaga and Helsinki in winter. The airline is also working on rescheduling flight times to offer more convenient travel options for customers.

Finnair first landed in Malaga in 1964 and has since maintained the route as a key hub in the Spanish market. Travelers can expect increased accessibility to the sunny coast of Spain thanks to Finnair’s expanded flight offerings to Malaga.
