Andalusian Public Theater Network järjestää yhdeksän esitystä toukokuussa Malagassa
MÁLAGA, 3. toukokuuta (EUROPA PRESS) –
Andalusian Public Theaters Network, in collaboration with the municipalities of Nerja, Torremolinos, Marbella, and Villanueva del Rosario in the province of Malaga, is organizing five dance, theater, and circus performances, as well as four school performances until May 31st.
This initiative, promoted by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Sports, organized through the Andalusian Agency of Cultural Institutions (Aaiicc), aims to attract new audiences to the performing arts while reinforcing artistic production.
The program kicks off with a prestigious company like Teatro Clásico de Sevilla presenting ’The Rape of Lucretia’ in Nerja on May 4th.
The play is based on a poem of the same name by William Shakespeare from 1594, adapted by playwright Alfonso Zurro. The company has received numerous awards, including three Escenarios de Sevilla 2023 awards for this production.
The humor and talent of David García Intriago and the company La Líquida will arrive in Torremolinos with ’Bacanal’ on May 11th, a fun and educational journey through the origin and history of performing arts, wine, its gods, and the free Bacchants who accompanied it.
The play offers humor, live music, and Santiago Vokram for the delight of the senses. Villanueva del Rosario will host Lanórdika Circo’s proposal titled ’Cándido’, where a lovable ringmaster will showcase his hidden talents: juggling, whip cracking, balance, acrobatic cycling on May 17th.
Acuario Teatro will stage ’Ñam, ñam, a story to eat up’ on May 25th under the direction of Marta Guzmán, with a fun message about the importance of a healthy diet for children.
Finally, on May 31st in Nerja, the company Da.Te Danza will perform ’In No Man’s Land’, an inclusive contemporary dance show in collaboration with the Andalusian Agency of Cultural Institutions, specially aimed at a young audience, starting from 8 years old.
A journey through human rights through real stories, including the participation of a migrant in the professional cast, without prior dance experience or training, emerging from our vision towards a more inclusive society.
Likewise, the province will also host Abecedaria performances for school audiences. The program, pioneering, awarded, and recognized throughout the country, will bring shows by the Teatro PLUS and Olga Zeceva and Samfaina de Colors formations to Marbella this month.
FIRST PLENARY OF 2024 IN ALHAURÍN EL GRANDE
On the other hand, it has been noted that the Andalusian Public Theaters Network held the first of the two annual plenary sessions last week, organized jointly with municipal managers to analyze the proposed shows.
This meeting took place at the Municipal Public Library of Alhaurín el Grande (Malaga), where 37 municipal representatives from the 72 municipalities that make up the Network in 2024 gathered.
The main objective of this ordinary session is to analyze the new proposals for performing arts and music that have applied for entry into the catalog in the last call for submissions, which closed last January and received 1,103 proposals for theater, music, dance, and circus from all over the country, of which 390 made it to the plenary after around 350 were rejected for formal reasons and the same number for minimum artistic quality, assessed by a panel of experts.
These 390 proposals, once presented and analyzed at the plenary, will be scored by all member municipalities of the Network, after which the Andalusian Agency of Cultural Institutions will publish the list of shows that will finally be included in the catalog from which the Network draws its programs.
In addition, the plenary, led by the director of the Andalusian Institute of Performing Arts and Music (IAAEM), Violeta Hernández, discussed the overall operation of the Network, based on the results of a survey launched by the IAAEM a couple of months ago, which municipalities had the opportunity to respond to.
The creation of this questionnaire was one of the first measures taken by the director regarding the Network, with the aim of promoting transparency and flow of information among all members.
Hernández, who highlighted the importance of these plenary sessions for true networking, detailed the general opinion in percentage terms on issues such as funding, procedures and requirements for municipalities to join, show selection procedures, call deadlines, and the suitability of implementing mediation programs or artistic residencies in the Network.
Likewise, the director reported that she has held meetings with sector associations in recent months, who have conveyed their concerns and needs regarding the Network, and announced the creation of permanent monitoring committees to expedite the evaluation of shows and generate more diversity and efficiency in management.
Finally, it has been mentioned that the resolution with the new shows that will be included in the catalog will be published soon, and a new call for submissions for the upcoming semester will be opened.
The Andalusian Public Theaters Network is a program carried out in collaboration between the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Sports and those Andalusian municipalities that annually join it.
It is present in the eight Andalusian provinces and its main objective is to bring theater, circus, music, and dance shows to the theaters of municipalities, facilitating access to the performing arts for the population and contributing to the development of the Andalusian cultural sector.
